The Junior Docent Program aims to encourage the youth of the Kern River Valley to join with our Adult Docents in presenting the history offered to the visiting public at the museum.
As a Junior Docent, your function will be, along with Adult Docents, to
create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. You will be trained to interpret displays and educate and guide our visitors through our Museum Exhibits.
Your commitment to helping visitors develop a deeper appreciation and
understanding of the Kern River Valley’s local history is important. You will learn to adapt your approach to different audiences, including children, students, and adults.
Your commitment to volunteering for this community service without financial compensation is important. However, you will benefit by receiving school credit, when possible, as well as knowing you are making a difference by engaging in meaningful experiences for Museum visitors. It will also enhance your career development when added to your resume and will provide valuable experience for your future career.
